Count Down To Ground Zero.- October 1 as a metaphor

I don’t know if Mr. Kavanaugh has a history of assault or if he actually has a drinking problem, but I do know that he might. And you shouldn’t be on the Supreme Court if you might. You shouldn’t be on the People’s Court if you might. Sometimes might is enough. I mean, I don’t want to pet your dog if he might bite me. I don’t want to leave you in my house if you might be a crackhead. I’m not going to have sex with you if you might have dated Charlie Sheen.”*
~ Michael Che
Now, who is it among the Political Elite, who did not know in 2003 through to 2011, that Muhammadu Buhari, might have the tendencies to be *Nepotistic*, *a Religious Fundamentalist*, *Limited in Capacity*, *Unforgiving*, *Undemocratic*, *Vindictive*, *Obstinate* and *Unfit to be the right person to steer the affairs of a multi-ethnic, multi-religious, multi-socioculturally diverse country as Nigeria is*!??
You probably didn’t know, but I tell you, many many people knew.
If you didn’t know, you can never ever say, you did not have your doubts that he *”might”* turn out to be all these…
You probably prayed and hoped, Buhari has, *”changed”*.
Not even *Tinubu*, *El Rufai* et all were ever sure — Tinubu said he was, *”Un electable*, El Rufai said, *“Buhari is the least qualified to rule Nigeria having failed all professional military exams”*, all before 2015!
You were merely played upon by the *Political Elite* —
*In 1993, same elite who claimed they were fighting for democracy naively encouraged Abacha to sieze power. When in fact, Abacha was the number one opponent of democracy.*
*In 2015, many of those same people encouraged Muhammadu Buhari to run for President. When in fact, he was no democrat..*
The circle has started again — 2.9 million votes among APC *”Party members”* in Kano state alone, in party primaries, counted in 3 hours, a record that has not even been accomplished in the US in any given election to count 3 million votes in hours, happened in Kano, whereas to count 3,000 votes in Ọ̀ṣun election rerun, took 18 hours..
When Muhammadu Buhari took over power on December 31, 1983 he said inter alia:
*”The last general election was anything but free and fair. The only political parties that could complain of election rigging are those parties that lacked the resources to rig. There is ample evidence that rigging and thuggery were relative to the resources available to the parties. This conclusively proved to us that the parties have not developed confidence in the presidential system of government on which the nation invested so much material and human resources. While corruption and indiscipline have been associated with our state of under-development, these two evils in our body politics have attained unprecedented height in the past few years. The corrupt, inept and insensitive leadership in the last four years has been the source of immorality and impropriety in our society”*
So I ask, what was it Buhari accused the political parties of not learning, the Shagari administration of doing, that Buhari himself and his party have not done in multiple-folds in *Less Than Four Years!??*
To cushion the effect of what they knew and what you might have known, they coined the *Loose, Gaseous, Self-Incriminating expression*, — To {be able to} *”Vote Buhari; Think Osinbajo”*…
That yomight have known that Buhari would turn out to be a huge disappointment, you came up on your own with the self-defeating queer motivation, in a bombardment of soul-searches of the need of assurances that you may yet be right, and spurted out — *”It is our government, we will vote Buhari out if he does not perform”*….
Now consider this reality — From the APC presidential primaries alone, with the results of only 6 states, the *error* of 2015, has just come home to roost, as the APC has awarded Buhari with 6.9 million “votes”!
In just a few hours it will be the remembrance of Nigeria’s 58th Independence, and I am at these times in reflection.
I remember Wọlé Soyinka’s prophetic play, staged on the eve of the independence day celebration in 1960 — *”A Dance of The Forest”*!
A poignant, pregnant and damning play that did nothing to lift the spirits of a newly independent nation.
Rather than predict a robust and rosy future, Soyinka predicted a failed state all within a few years…
Yet, same Kongi failed to see the conundrum that was to come after helping Buhari to power in 2015, and only just waking up to this dawn of reawakening!??
Strange…!
